About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I went through three shirts before I found one that was more accurate to the comic. I don't have any photos in the shirt I finally settled on. the shirt is supposed to have some strange seaming on it which I was too lazy/too insecure in my abilities to do. I attempted to make the shorts but, again, had still not discovered ball-point needles so they fell apart quickly. in the interest of time I bought some cheap gym shorts and fabric-glued the stripes on [they never laid right when I sewed them on. to this day they are still threatening to fall off at any moment.] most cosplayers who do this outfit merely buy a pair of goggles, but I wanted mine to be more accurate to how they appear in the comic. after searching for hours for something I could buy that could be turned into goggles, I settled for Pringles cans. I used automotive window tint on plastic for the lenses and used chrome spray paint to make them more realistic looking. not the best construction but I am proud of my innovation!
in this scene in the comic, she is technically wearing roller blades. as I cannot even roller skate, and considering that wheels of any kind at a convention are just bad news, I went with plain boots instead. I thought about making boot covers or painting rain boots, but rain boots are expensive and I was extremely boot-cover-phobic at the time. still, not one of my favorite Ramona outfits so I doubt it'll ever be re-done. - Personal Thoughts:
- debut at TaiyouCon 2011
retired at PhoenixComicon 2011
