The top was made with a yellow bff formalwear "satin" from Hancocks. The pattern on her top has always varied when it comes to cosplay interpretations. There's obviously some kind of design, but no one really seems to know what. I've seen "random" stitch from a quilting machine, hand threaded yarn/string - but it always seemed too abrupt and harsh to me. So the fabric has a raised floral pattern that I felt helped bring a real feminine touch to the top, but kept the design muted. I used a dress pattern that had a form fitting bodice with a zipper. I shrunk the "skirt" of the dress for the slight flair at the bottom. White trim was used on the straps and edging.
The pants are modified yoga pants - the right color was pretty hard to find. The belt was a Goodwill find that was painted, and the shoes came from Charlotte Rouse. The arm band was made of spray painted craft foam with a white fabric that didn't need to be edged/stitched, attached with two snaps. - Personal Thoughts:
- Another costume that was a favor for a friend, but we had a lot of fun with it for a while. This was used in the debut skit for the joined Candy Mountain Cosplay and Three Dollar Laugh Cosplay Groups at Fanime 2010.
I'm not horribly familiar with the series, but the more I looked into Robin's character - she always seemed almost above the rest. Sure she has her flaws, but she's always been a "lady", but doesn't mind using her brute force and her special abilities, and just a little sexuality, to get her way. I can really appreciate it when the female characters are set up to be strong, useful people who not only pull their own - but seriously contribute to the series.
Psychology aside - she really is a lovely character, and one of the few in the group that was left....unless I wanted to do Usopp.
Sadly, this particular cosplay has been retired and the cosplay has been sold. But it was very fun while it lasted.
