See my Homura costume in action! For me, it's not enough to just look pretty. I really try to channel Homura's personality whenever I wear her :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XgmiviXStA&feature=youtu.be&t=2m18s
I spent a lot of time tailoring my Homura costume and making sure the proportions for the collar, triangle things, skirt length, etc. are right. With such a simple costume design, it's a lot harder to hide imperfections. I did a lot of math and angles to make sure it worked on my body.
Homura's hair is a dark greyish black, and not jet black, so I took a dark grey wig and dyed it with a bit of purplish black sharpie dye to darken it a bit to get Homura's hair colour.
The time-shield was fun to make and I knew I wanted it to spin! I'm not a mechanically minded person so that part was interesting to figure out, however I'm really happy with the way the shield turned out. I formed it out of wonderflex and used craft foam and hot glue to create the raised details.
My hand gem was done using paperclay mounted onto craft foam. I didn't have time to cast it out of resin, but I think my quick solution still looks pretty good. I painted the gem with a metallic purple paint, and used clear nail polish as a top coat. - Personal Thoughts:
- My friend tagged me as Homura in one of her group cosplay ideas before I even knew what Madoka Magica was. After watching the series I was in love <3.
