About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This year has suddenly become very crowded with conventions for me so my budget per costume has gone down. I used costume satin for this, but used the wrong side so it doesn't have that high shine to it. Left overs from Ranka are used for the purple- that worked out nicely! I made the straps thicker than hers are- being a bigger girl I need a little more coverage.
The wig I got on ebay, and wired my horns and feathers into. The horns are a wire frame wraped with newspaper, then masking tape, paper mache (3 layers), and then coated in Elmer's Glue (5 coats). Painted in the hotel room and I forgot the gold paint so the base of the horns will be repainted later!
Two types of pink feathers wired together for the pink fluff and wired to the wig. I also wired a headband to the inside of the wig for extra support of the horns.
All the seems are finished- French seam & double fold hem. I added horse hair to stiffen the bottom hem.
I used Snazzaro body paint in black, bright green, and yellow. I applied it very thin and used a blow dryer to set. Was very good about not rubbing off to much! - Personal Thoughts:
- I AM NOT A POKEMON!!!
I am pretty pleased with how this came out. I made it all in 2 days, and my first adventure with body paint, first time using no pattern, and first time performing in a masquerade alone and using a hoop. A lot of firsts in this!
Wig Details
- How was the wig colored?
- Sharpie (Green & Blue)
- Styling Notes
- I used the sharpie method to dye this wig I got on ebay for $10. It was a longer gray punky wig. I trimmed it up and sprayed in the color. I need to add more blue!
- Wig Review
- Yay $10 on Ebay!!!!
