About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Everything was already in my closet and were only subject to minor alterations to be more faithful to the illustration. I even had a wig for GUMI as well since my sister bought one for her Chikorita cosplay! The only thing I bought were the little horns, which were also separated from their original headband and integrated into the wig, cut to make them shorter and painted in a green/black tone. I must admit I added a couple of details that weren't included in the original design, such as the checkered belt and a few black & white hairpins, but I felt they suited her XD I loved the make-up made by my sister, and I added the gems, one of the details I love most of this costume. I couldn't find black ones, so I choose three types of them in green, which also matched the costume's colors.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Although it seems to be a stain on your honor for some cosplayers, I've always been attracted to the fan-side of VOCALOID: it has always amazed me, as much as the Touhou one does, the beautiful songs, PVs, artwork and costumes derivated from the software itself. The opportunity to cosplay one of its face-characters came with the 3rd anniversary of Megpoid "GUMI". Being in love also with Megumi Nakajima and Ranka Lee, and with the Poker Face song, I decided to make this one ^^ I don't usually make "sexy" costumes, mostly due to my inability to look like that on photos, but I tried to train myself a bit with this one XD

- Styling Notes
- I know the wig doesn't look as it should either, since GUMI's hair in Poker Face is quite shorter, but since it was borrowed I couldn't make major cuts to it >_< I only layered the side bangs and hid most part of one of them with a hair clip to make it look irregular. I also added more clips to avoid having the wig flip too much and make it look a little bit shorter.
- Wig Review
- I'm in love with this wig: the three different shades of green and the styling are really beautiful, and the fibers are soft and have a good quality.
