About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
All patterns were hand-drafted using the dressform and altered from there to fit me. Learning from trial and error, the faux leather top needed to be lined to avoid ripping at the sides. I even satin-stitched her pinstripes on the shorts!
- Personal Thoughts:
- This has always been my favorite costume! =3 However, It was technically my second cosplay back in 2002... I've grown out of it since then. Not enough people do this version of Rikku so It's always nice to have the original Rikku bouncing about. The inspiration to make it not only came from some other Rikku cosplays I've seen, but I found the PERFECT orange leather to use (in terms of the kotobukiya figure). =3

- Styling Notes
- This was the most painstaking wig I have ever made... but OMG, I LOVE IT TO DEATH!!! Since I never had an actual FFX Rikku wig, I used a shorter wig and clip-on for a while then I decided to use my real hair. So... I finally decided to make one as this is my favorite costume! =D This was my first time doing a complete up-do with wefts (custom ones at that!) so I am very happy with it! I\'ve been working on it for 6 months only because I cannot for the life of me find New Look\'s 24B wefts. So I finally decided that I would buy another wig and rip the wefts from it! =D I used Kukkii-san's tutorial which can be found here: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1856066/ If you're out there, THANK YOU KUKKII-SAN!!! I couldn't have done it without you!
- Wig Review
- The wig is super thick, perfect for up-do's but still requires additional wefts for the nape area.
