Construction Details:

Modifying the jacket pattern to accommodate the double breasted lapels was shockingly difficult... took months and delayed the project. I also modified the sleeves by using a different pattern (I've done that a few times, so it worked fine), and added on the caplet (attaching it went better than expected, but I still didn't get the final shape right *sigh*). It was much more difficult than I anticipated.

The rest of the costume was relatively easy.

The pins were made by printing them out on sticker paper, sticking them to cardboard (actually, the cardboard that came with the lavender bias tape, it's the perfect thickness and strength), exacto-knifing them out and super gluing them to pin backings.

The fan tassels are made with embroidery thread: I knotted the end, then used a pencil to fray the edges by simply un-doing the twist in the threads; then glued it in a loop to the fan. Fans that actually have tassels at the ends have little rings the tassels are connected to, but I couldn't find a white one with the right shape and also a tassel.
