This. Bitch.
ARMOR: Jason/CeruleanDraco is a SAINT AMONG SAINTS and created all of the basic armor shapes with layered craft foam. I then added thin foam padding and stretched white vinyl (THANK YOU DAVEY YOU'RE THE BESSSSSST) to the outside with super glue and an ungodly amount of patience. The details (red diamonds attached to the neck, screws) are also painted craft foam, while the black details on the arms, backpack, and chest are in Sharpie. When finished, Jason attached the main pieces with industrial strength velcro, and secured it all together with super glue while it was on me.
BODYSUIT: The bodysuit and gloves are blue vinyl and black pleather, all sewn by me! I made it as seam-accurate as possible. I drafted the pattern with an old pair of jeans and lots of planning on paper, since there are no seams on the sides of the suit. It was challenging but it turned out almost exactly how I wanted it to! It took a while to sew, since all of the seams around my butt, elbows, and chest are wacky as hell. I think the body suit by itself took about 4 days of work!
GLOVES/WRISTS/SHOES: The gloves were my very first pair, but I'm not super happy with the pattern I used, so I might remake them~ They took me about 5hrs to make. The wrist cuffs are layered craft foam with the blue vinyl and painted orange craft foam superglued on top. The gloves and wrist cuffs are both separate. The shoes are basic flats with vinyl glued to them, and are unattached, though I'll probably go back and attach them when I have more time since they kept slipping....
MISC: The plugs and chest cores were made by Jason with lightweight sculpey - I painted the details and finished them with nail polish top-coat. Lauren/DW let me tear up an old turtleneck for the red neck piece, THANK YOU BABY!! I wasn't able to add the knee/calf details, but next time!
All in all, this plugsuit really wasn't that difficult for me..... I mean it was challening, due to the odd pattern of the suit and the seams on the chest and back, but I spent about 2 weeks planning basically every detail, staring at references, and figuring out how I wanted to make it, so I knew what I needed to do. It just took up SO MUCH FUCKING TIME GUH - Personal Thoughts:
- ~*EVA EMOTIONS*~
I already said this on my other Shinji costume but you guys I FUCKING LOVE SHINJI AHFDJSHFGDKSHGFJD
I'm incredibly happy with how this turned out (save for some inaccuracies and details) and I'm excited to have finally made a plugsuit!! Thanks Meepy-Gal for being my Rei~♥
At some point I would really love to enter it into a masq or something, but for now IT'S TIME TO MAKE UNIT 01 AND GANTZ BRB
