About this Costume
Construction Details:
For the shihakusho, I used a kimono pattern from McCall's using black polyester. As for the white layers, I used plain white cotton to mimic the second layer underneath. The black hakama was made using a pattern tutorial posted on Coscom's forum---which I do believe has been offline for quite some time now. The white obi is the same white plain cotton fabric as the white layers.

The shoe was a sandal I found at Charlotte Russe. I cut some of the side strands off and then triple braided some yarn to create the waraji-like ties for the sandal. The socks were plain white socks that I had cut and resewn to create the tabi socks.

The sword was all made by me using cardboard for the handle, oven bake clay for the guard and the smaller bits of the designs on the hilts end, and cardboard foam for the blade.
Personal Thoughts:
The costume was originally made for Ise Nanao back in 2006. However I've been using it for Kuchiki Rukia since. This was my first costume constructed and I love it to bits!
