About this Costume
Construction Details:
Since I've already made her outfit before, I decided to do a more "realistic/ornamental" interpretation of her design this time around. So there are tons of little details and changes that I've added, all from my own noggin.

PATTERNS: I drafted all the patterns for this from scratch. The top has princess seams in it, and the pants were based on harem pants.

MATERIALS: The pink fabric is a reversible dupioni silk shantung blend; the darker burgundy fabric is moleskin; and the copper fabric is cotton. The chest armor is made entirely out of craft foam, Model Magic, and Scribbles 3D Puff Paint!

BEADING: There are over 500 beads on this costume right now, and I'm planning to add even more before my next con!

OTHER DETAILS: Some other changes I made to Ty Lee's design include the frog closures on all of the cuffs ,as well as corset lacing on both the belt and the top.

Overall, I'm thrilled with how this turned out! I haven't had a costume in ages that I can say I'm 100% proud of, so seeing this come together was a really great experience. I cried the first time I put it on all together because I was just so happy!
Personal Thoughts:
For the past year or so, I've been dying to remake my Ty Lee cosplay. And finally, I got the chance!

I really, really love cosplaying Ty Lee, she's my absolute favorite character from the Avatar universe. What's even better is that I don't have to act "in-character" for her because I already act like her anyways! I'm hoping I can get some photos of me putting my yoga skills to use - but I'm not sure how flexible the costume will be and I'm sort of scared of breaking anything, especially the wig. ;3; So... we'll see! (If not, that's what her beach version is for, right~?)

Styling Notes
I stubbed the base ponytail; there's a dowel rod and foam core to support the weight of it. The braid was made using the wefts from the clip-on ponytail that came with the wig. For more info on the process I used, I made a work log video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDjID_m3hbg
Wig Review
I'm always looking for an excuse to work with the Jeannie - it's my favorite Arda wig for sure!
