Construction Details:

In sewing this, I aimed somewhere between a yukata and kimono by accident. I didn't realize that a yukata's sleeves could just be hemmed back--so this is a yukata with lined sleeves, oh well. Figuring out how to pin this was an adventure, now I can see why people are WTF over the sleeve seams of kimonos. This also should be about a foot longer, but I ran out of fabric unfortunately, so it does not do the tuck-under that it should. The obi was borrowed from my alma mater's Japanese club. Our Hikaru bought us all matching hair flowers in our respective character colors, and got us each power-specific props--a fan for wind, an umbrella for water, and a lantern for fire. :)

Personal Thoughts:

MY MAGICAL GIRLS UGUUUUU. Also, rule #1 about the Brooklyn Sakura Matsuri: wear a costume, and you won't be able to move, breathe, or eat without people thinking you're part of the exhibit and snapping awkward paparazzi shots of you. xD
