Construction Details:

Oh god so the bodice is completely boned at all the seams; I sandwiched steel spiral boning between two layers of heavy twill and then flat basted the satin on top before assembling all the pieces so that the casings wouldn't show. The inside seams are finished with bias binding as it's not lined. The bias tape I made myself because gold bias is impossible to find and is slip-stitched in the back so there's no visible stitching. The skirt is metres and metres of fabric (about eight feet across ungathered), gathered at the waist and with tulle inserted between the shell and the lining to give it some "oomph". All the ruffles are circular ruffles, lined with itself. All in all, a lot of fabric for a costume that doesn't even cover my crotch, idek.

The hat was an adventure in pattern drafting. All the details are hand sewn on except for the green gems because I got lazy by that point. There was a lot of hand sewing involved in making this. I hate myself, clearly.

Personal Thoughts:

Frills and heels and visible crotches, oh my! I never want to hand sew again. 8|

Styling Notes

This wig almost didn't arrive in time omg. No styling involved-- just took it out of the bag, threw it on my head and pinned the bangs to the sides. Ayup.
