About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
My costume was definitely the simpler of the two, since I decided against making the jacket for myself... I have enough wool left over that I probably will make my own eventually, but for now I'm cool with being sassy turtleneck Hawkeye ;D! The uniforms were made from wool + interfacing in key places, and fully lined. Bias tape was all sewn on then blind stitched by hand, oy. I also made Black Hayate using a plushie pattern I found on Etsy! I'm pretty darn happy with these considering I managed to pump both of them out in about 2 weeks... yes I am insane. And I didn't sleep much. I have a few little things I'd like to fix up before Fanime but overall I am quite satisfied, despite the fact that they're ugly ass FMA uniforms ;3!!
- Personal Thoughts:
- I never in a million kajillion bazillion years would have imagined I'd make this costume, but here I am xD! FMA was one of those series that was really popular right when I started cosplaying... like, obnoxiously popular. Like, a sea of blue uniforms on the convention floor popular ;;. I always thought these uniforms were ugly as sin and never understood why anybody in their right mind would willingly wear one... until last fall when my husband and I were bored one evening and started watching FMA on Netflix. And we were HOOKED. Okay, so some series are obnoxiously popular for a reason, I get it now xD!! Mike and I really connected with Royai... *ahem* ... Mustang and Hawkeye because of their unique dynamic. Dat romantic tension. Or is there? lol! Well it became much more obvious in Brotherhood! At any rate, they're awesome, and we wanted to be them. And I decided I wanted to welcome the hubs back to the wonderful world of KOSPURE by making Mustang for him, since he's been too busy with school to make his own stuff for the past couple years ~ I think I got him hooked again, though! I'VE MISSED HIM SO ;w; (PS: There's more pics on Firien's ACE page!!)

- Rose
- Original Color:
- 25 / Butterscotch Blonde
- Styling Notes
- This wig was kinda on it's last leg from years of wear, so I brought it back from the deaaaaad... xD!! I washed it thoroughly, trimmed off all the sad, ratty ends, then flipped it up into Hawkeye's style with a clear rubberband + hair clippie. Razored the ends a bit and tossled it with hairspray to make it spiky and sassy :3
- Wig Review
- This wig wins the award for being the most characters EVER; first I used it for Princess Peach, then my sister used it for her Princess Venus cosplay, then I used it for Miki Hoshii for 3 costume variations + 5 performances, and now it's Riza Hawkeye. xD!!
