Construction Details:

I made the kimono from white cotton sateen, which I dyed to the yellow color by mixing brown and yellow-orange dye. It turned out darker after the first dye bath, so I used a light amount of dye remover to lighten it. I then painted the designs onto it, using stencils cut out from foam. The obi and headband are red cotton sateen that I painted to the darker red color (they are sparkly, but that can't be seen from pictures) and then drew the white hearts onto both of them with a paint marker. The obi cord is generic white cording that I covered with the brown, and the bead I painted yellow.

Personal Thoughts:

SO. COMFORTABLE. Also the sleeves are huge and great for storing all kinds of things.
