About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Fairly simple sewing wise - used my standard pant pattern and modified it to have gaps in the sides for the pants, and used Simplicity2517 as a base and modded for the shrug. There's a short zipper that runs along the top of the shoulder seam up through the collar that allows me to put it on. Face guard is foamie sandwiched between wonderflex, smoothed out with wood glue and the raised detail done in 3d paint, then painted and weathered with acrylic. The greaves and bracers are foamie, which I'm going to go back and reinforce. For the shiruken I decided to try out using foamcore, as using the material would allow me to make them big without them getting too heavy. Cut out the blades and the handles separately, then glued them together. Took my mat knife and then carved down the edges, covered the blades and the area below them with rigid wrap and then filled in any raw/exposed sides with spackle. Primed and painted, made a stencil to do the design that is on this particular version of the blades, and then wrapped the handles in genuine suede. Still need to acquire tabi boots, but overall I'm happy with the out come (and its super comfy too!)
- Personal Thoughts:
- Sasuke has always been in my top 5 favorite characters from the series, and seeing as how I did Yukimura last year its fitting that I do a cosplay of his ninja retainer.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- cut a couple inches of the bottom, thinned it out with a razor&thinning shears, then worked hair wax into it. Applied hairspray and hung the wig vertically while I set the hairspray with a hair dryer, nothing too difficult.
