About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Dress: The bodice of the gown is made from a pale blue brocade with silver embroidery in a swirly design. The skirt is made of blue taffeta, with a shimmery silver chiffon layer on top so it matches the bodice fabric.
Frosting Puffs: These are made from the leftover satin from Garnet. I really had no plan when I made them; I just randomly added ruching along the fabric to give it the effect of melting ice-cream.
Crown: This is made from craft foam and paperclay attached to a metal headband. Blue beads are attached to the points, with a crystal in the middle.
Jewelry/Bling: The necklace is a snowflake-shaped Swarovki pendant, and I ususally stick crystals to my face.
Snowflake Staff: The topper is made from layers of craftfoam and paperclay, and the pole is PVC piping. I added little crystals to the points and along the center.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Candyland = My childhood.
I've always loved Queen Frostine. What girl born in the '80's didn't adore the Ice Cream Queen when they were growing up? This is one of my dream cosplays, and I'm really hoping I can get a whole group to cosplay the Candyland board figurines with me.
This was something that was thrown together last minute, so the construction isn't really the best. But, I'm happy with the result, and this is quickly becoming one of my favourite costumes. I love passing out candy, especially to little kids.
Since the only reference I had of Frostine was the tiny image from the game board, most of this is my own design and interpretation of the character.
