Construction Details:

I worked from a lot of movie stills for this project. I tried to choose materials hobbits might have used, and if something needed fixing, fixed it in a hobbit-ish manner so it might look more "home-grown".

The shirt is a basic white cotton button-down shirt with a low collar. The front is machine embroidered - not in that I have an embroidery machine, but that I embroidered it on my basic four-function sewing machine. Lots of starting/stopping and foot-lifting, but it worked well.

The pants are a soft wide cord courderoy that I had for a while with the intention of replacing an old pair of pants... never thought the new pants might be hobbit pants! I accidently knicked them while cutting them, so I added a patch for a home-spun touch. The suspender buttons are leather covered.

The coat is a peacock green fine courderoy. It is fully lined and fully functional - I now use it as my autumn coat.

The scarf! Before I started this project, I only knew how to crochet. Crocheting the scarf did not look right at all, so I learned to knit. Instead of starting with something basic, this scarf is the first thing I ever knit. Normally people do beginner knitting on two straight needles, doing a flat swatch in one type of stitch of a single colour. I didn't do that since I was sort of on a time crunch, so I jumped into this, knitting in the round on 5 double-pointed needles with colour-work to boot. Baby steps, what baby steps? ;-) The pattern is a herring-bone pattern. The multi-colour yarn was discontinued, but it was the closest I could find to the reference colour-wise despite being a thicker yarn than I needed. Consequently, the scarf is fluffier than it should be, but I'm ok with this. I use the scarf in real life in the coldest part of the winter since it's nice and warm.

The cloak is a simple circle cloak of brown linen.

The bag is burlap lined with cotton. Making burlap piping was.... interesting. Doable though!

Ears are basic latex ears I painted with acrylics and add makeup when worn.

Feet - hair is spirit gummed to make the hobbit feet. Still trying to figure out a better way to do this, and to find hair that matches the wig better.
