Construction Details:

I couldn't find any gold bias tape that I liked, so I bought some beautiful metallic gold satin and made my own. It took forever but was well worth it. The cape was patterned from scratch, then sewn out of a nice white cotton. It's lined with a beautiful wine colored casa satin, which felt most "commander-y" to me. The dress was patterned from scratch and made from lycra. Getting the clean, angular seams in the front was the most challenging part.

The hat was made from black twill with heavy interfacing. I did the embroidery on the Nadesico symbol myself. I used a simple pillbox hat pattern and altered it to have the extra brim.

My favorite part of this costume is the NERGAL patches my friend Kevin made for me from his wonderful embroidery machine. We were both mesmerized while we watched it work. It was beautiful.

Personal Thoughts:

Yurika is just so cute and ditzy, until it's serious business time then she springs into action as a most capable captain. I wanted to do something from an anime I loved that doesn't get much attention these days.

I love being able to use my real hair with a costume and not a wig :) The contacts were purchased from pinky paradise and they are beautiful!
