About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Dress is a stretch jersey knit. The apron it hand painted, with the bow attached in the back by a large snap.
Shoes are painted as well, although they ended up being way to dark! - Personal Thoughts:
- It was Mostflogged/Jenni's idea to do these outfits. Originally I think I was supposed to be Minako, but somehow along the way I ended up being Usagi. Like a million other people, Usagi has been a character I've loved since I was probably 6 or 7 years old. Before I knew what cosplay was I wanted to be her. Now that I had the means to do it, I hesitated for a LONG time because I felt I was too tall for her (I'm about 5'7). However, with Jenni's encouragement, I ended finally getting to be her.
I have WAY too many emotions about this character.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- Chibi wig pulled up higher and stubbed. Attached 3/4 of two long curly clip ons (straightened) to the stubs, and than sewed on another weft on top of the stub, which was then wrapped around the stub to create the odangos. I originally planned to do foam buns wrapped in hair, but my stub/extention combos ended up being WAY TOO THICK to contain a seperate odango piece. The plus side is I can brush everything out nicely and re-style it each time I wear it though since the buns aren't permanent!
- Wig Review
- Not completely happy with the styling. I wish my pigtails were a little higher and the buns a little bigger (I ran out of wefts though ;_;). Also the pigtails could have been a little thinner!
In the end it was a HUGE trial and error lesson. I'll make another version when I have time.
Also, apparently my head is MONSTEROUS because even ARDA wigs (which are made large) don't fit me. Putting on this wig is a painful two person job, and my hair still sticks up a bit in the back.
