This dress was a lot harder then I originally thought it would be...that and it's monstrously heavy! Seriously, even my Victorian yuuko's skirt isn't as heavy as this dress! Not to mention the wig. It's got a waist length Wig, four string falls and the head band in there. Not a picnic to wear.
The headband (which you can never see because of the hair) is made from craft foam and 14 glass jewels then painted and sewn onto the wig.
The Wig was another head ache. I used a #24 blonde wig I had, but found to my dismay the the world was out of #24 blonde string falls. So despite my ordering in advance and trying to get ready, I was still scrambling to get this beast together. My local costume store saved my, but they only had #16 blonde or #615 blonde. I pick the one the matched the best and made it work. I still hate how the curls hand and that it's the wrong color, but until #24 color comes back..I'm stuck. Lol. Until it bothers me enough to start from scratch!
This dress is worn over a steel boned corset, which is the foundation for this dress. Without it, it would not have been possible. You can't see it, but when I made this particular corset, I decided it needed to be colorful. To the boning channels are super multicolored! whoo!
In the end i'm super pleased with how this turned out. It's just to bad, the model wearing it is not quite up to par! ehehe...
ok, I think that's it. I may write more later.
