About this Costume
- Construction Details:

The filmstrip cels were Heat n Bond'd on. On each cel is one of eight drawings of a Mickey Mouse running cycle that I freehanded with a ballpoint pen. There's about 50 of them on the costume and when the skirt is spun the right way, you can see the run-cycle in motion! The skirt was about a three-day job. Drafted the underskirt pattern myself, then attached loops for the petticoat rings to go thru, then cut out the 'paper sheets', then traced various Mickey sketches on with pencil, then went over those sketches with pen and red pencil and oh my god I never want to draw that mouse ever again AUGH!!! Tho a certain rabbit did manage to sneak his way in somewhere...
The gloves were the easiest thing, but still had some minimal customization work. I spray-painted the brush-handles black (they were originally red). The brushes and pencils are held in place via hotglue.
- Personal Thoughts:
- This was one of the 28 costumes I designed for my senior project, which was to create a parade for Walt Disney World's 40th Anniversary. Animation is my major so I decided to make this costume to present with the project. The Animation Courtyard is also one of my favorite places in WDW- loved stalking characters there during my internship and knowing that my favorite Disney film, Lilo & Stitch, was made there means a lot to me!
I'm very proud of how this whole thing came out!
