About this Costume
Construction Details:
I couldn't be happier with the way this came out. The many hours that went into this were definitely worth it. This costume goes with East Blue's Umineko group at Taiyou Con 2012.

The dress, capelet and underskirt are mostly stretch sateen; the purple ruffles on the capelet and the piping on the dress are cotton broadcloth. The dress was modified from a pattern, while the capelet, underskirt and hat were free-patterned. The white "lace" on the hat is actually the heavily-plasticized fabric people use for blackout curtains; it holds its shape nicely and doesn't run at all, making for nice faux lace. Both bows are made of stretch sateen and are stuffed to make them look extra poofy and cartoony. The scalloping on the underskirt is a gausy mesh fabric painted heavily with Fray Check.

My boyfriend, Hazard8726, made the staff. The head is carved from poplar wood, and was sanded and then spray-painted. The pole is PVC pipe supported internally with wooden dowels (so it doesn't bend). The spike on the end is a tent spike covered in Model Magic and paper-mache.
Personal Thoughts:
I am absolutely in love with Eva-Beatrice's design, and am so happy I got to do this costume as part of our Umineko group at Taiyou Con 2012. I definitely plan to wear this again.
