Construction Details:

This cosplay is actually harder to make than it looks, well, to look nice at least. Or maybe it's just the materials I choose to work with, which is a very soft silk-ish material that I REALLY should have not used but I guess I was in a more... err... masochistic mood? idk.

The top is a half kimono-half mass modification pattern that was really just trial and error. Since I got the material for it from Asia, I only had so much to work with so I couldn't fix all the mistakes I made.

I will once again proclaiming my hatred of pleated skirts, especially with such soft materials. At least I had enough brain cells to interface the waist part so that it actually held the shape, which was more trial and error to get the fitting right.

I got the boots and gloves from taobao while making the medals and the gold dangle-y parts myself. The sakuras are beads I found. The hat itself was lots of 'just try and make it work', the shape is held by plastic boning.

Personal Thoughts:

There are a lot more parts to this cosplay than one would realize at first glance. And there was a lot of trial and error involved. But the design and song really spoke to me so I decided to try my hardest at making this cosplay so I would be proud of it.

It also feels quite awkward that my SLEEVES are longer than my SKIRT.

I wore this for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Sakura Matsuri Cosplay Fashion Show 2012.
