Construction Details:

Most of the understuff was purchased, like the dress shirt, tie, skirt, hosiery, and shoes. The gloves for Medic always seem like a particular challenge. I went with some nice gardening ones from Foxgloves since apparently that specific kind of blue doesn't exist in rubber gloves. The glasses were a cheap pair of reading glasses that I hammered the lenses out of and bent the frames to a more round shape.

The coat is a modified trench coat pattern from Vogue. I didn't have time to dye it the slight blue color, and I totally put the buttons on the wrong side. Luckily, I can fix both of those things before I wear this again.

I'm especially proud of my Ubersaw. I'd been working on it on and off for a couple of years but finished it for this con. The paint job is my best so far and the acrylic light cover for the uber-holder was a super lucky find. It's all in layers in order to get the right depth for each piece. The blade is some craft wood from Michaels that I Dremel'd the crap out of, and the rest of the layers are craft foam. The edges were pretty uneven, so I smoothed it out with some paperclay, which didn't really play nice, and I'll prolly use something else in the future. I sealed the foam bits with several layers of Modge Podge, and painted a ba-jillion layers of mixed acrylic paint. The handle I sealed with some clear coat. Dirty and worn looking props are the best kind of props.

Unfortunately, most everybody seemed much more impressed with my med pack, which was basically a rush job. It's made from a random assortment of stuff including foamcore, craft foam, cardboard, wooden dowels, a two liter bottle, and a paper plate. I had all of the pieces cut out, but I was running out of time and scrambling to make my coat. My friend Angel was a lifesaver and painted, assembled, and glued everything together, including the harness, the night before the con. She even did some surgery when the harness was glued on backwards (all the while I was laughing hysterically and trying not to freak out).

Personal Thoughts:

Cosplaying TF2 and being female you have four options. Option one is just straight up crossplaying, option two is the same outfit/uniform as the class but you don't hide the fact you're female (boobs, long hair, makeup, etc), option three is to femme it up some but stay as true as possible to TF2's style/esthetics, and option four is to go the "sexy femme" route.
