Although I love this costume, I'm still not 100% satisfied with it. Please message me if you want to know the specifics, but here's the general.
I made the kimono myself, carefully finishing and hemming all the edges. I then proceeded to basically tear it apart, fraying the edges, as well as adding paint, clay, and baby powder to make it look as though I'd crawled through the mud. It was way too much fun. I used the same method on the obi, which was also handmade.
The mask was a basic plastic mask, which I cut and shaped. I then added layers of clay to give it the shape I wanted. It was a pain in the butt. In the future, I definitely won't use air-dry clay for this. Too fragile, too fickle. The stakes are simply dowels I shaped, sanded, and painted.
The bandage is just a piece of fabric, with various shades of red acrylic paint to insinuate bloody eyes. I also slipped a couple magnets in the mask and bandages so I could safely attach the mask to my face.
The makeup is Kryolan Aqua colors. Love this stuff.
