Construction Details:

The hakamashita was based off of AnneLiese's pattern: http://fibers.destinyslobster.com/Japanese/Clothes/japmakekimono.htm , and the hakama is a combination of AnneLiese's hakama and reference pictures.

Personal Thoughts:

Because I've sewn kimono and hakama before, the pattern wasn't that hard to recreate. I decided to use iridescent ribbon to simulate the reddish lines that define the lines of the avatars. With this costume, I really appreciate the anti-wrinkle properties of polyester gaberdine!

Styling Notes

I used Katie Bair's wig straightening method to smooth the curls, then cut and shaped the wig. I have been able to reuse this wig for another cosplay, so the ears are held in place by the wig netting.
