About this Costume

Made Fall 2011. I worked on Madoka for about two and a half weeks. It was a relatively easy costume, except for a small issue with making the ends of the sleeves look how I wanted. She's mostly made out of cotton, which made the costume pretty comfortable, and the buttons are functional so it's easy to get in and out of.
This costume has ALL THE POOF! I'm wearing 3 petticoats under my two skirts. That's 5 LAYERS!!! I kept knocking things over with my poof. It was pretty funny.
The soul gem was created with a resin gem that I cast from a mold I made. My first time using resin! Not bad, but could definitely be better. The bow was supposed to have gems that I cast on it as well, but they didn't fare as well and I didn't have time to make new ones.
The rose bow is made from a wire coat hanger wrapped with upholstery foam and masking tape, and the rose at the top was originally white, sprayed pink. Apparently you can't buy fake pink roses in the winter.
Lastly, the shoes were a pair of pink Bodyline lolita shoes I bought a few years ago and never wore. I actually tried to sell them! No one wanted them, so they've been sitting in my closet since. Fortunately, the shape was PERFECT for Madoka, so I painted them red with Jacquard Lumiere paint.
