About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
The majority of the costume is made from red satin, random bits of trim, and finally poplin for the apron with heat and bonded bits of satin.....that's about it.
Wolfie was made from some sort of children's plushie material, and made by my mother who I am so grateful for her help on him! - Personal Thoughts:
- This Costume was featured in Akson's NYCC/NYAF 2011 Fan Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TzyIjOaLrE
This costume was honestly thrown together so randomly. It was a design I really liked and just put to the side ages ago, and once I finished Vivaldi I had a decent amount of scraps of red satin left over, so I figured why not. The construction was interesting as I didn't use a pattern or even pattern any bit of it, I basically just sat down and started cutting. The bits of ribbon used were also left over from Vivaldi, as were the bits of satin I used on the apron; the shoes I had from AGES ago; the bias tape was a left over scraps; the poplin scraps from a costume I had done ages ago; the socks are from Kneesocks; the trim was a buck a spool from A.C. Moore; the bits of embroidery thread for extra's my mother's collection. I think the only things I bought for this costume were the wig (which I had a gift certificate for the shop), the cheapest trim ever, and the fabric for Wolfie. Cheapest costume ever!
Wolfie was made by my fantastic and talented mother! I have never made a plushie before, and I was really unsure of how to approach him. Eventually my mother noticed my frustration, and helped me make a mock-up. Ironically she had so much fun making the pattern that the next day when I came home from work, she was pretty much done making Wolfie. I can't thank her enough!
