Construction Details:

KD Youmu has that cool boyish look, so I wanted to try her so bad! I bought a white elbow length sleeved shirt and added the longer pieces to the bottom. My friend helped make the black cuffs to the shirt, the scarf/ascot, and the headband bow. I used an old but barely used pleather skirt that happened to be the perfect length and painted on the ghost designs. Took some leather gloves I already had, cut off the fingers, and cheated the cross designs on them by just cutting them out of white foam and hot gluing them on (this was a semi-last-minute tactic).

The swords were pretty fun. I bought a 2 piece set of black wooden swords w/sheaths and modified the longer one to look just like the one Youmu wears on her back. It's all just a bunch of wood and foam and tons of gold paint. I got a little sloppy with the design and since I'm still new to making any sort of prop, I just winged it. I DO plan on going back and making something much better, but this certainly worked out anyway.

Luckily I have a few friends who are hairstylists that really know what they're doing and know how to produce exactly what is asked. I showed one of them a picture of Youmu and she went at it to give the wig the layered punkish look for a "realistic" KD Youmu.
