In 2010 Jukebox suggested that herself, Ammie and I should Cosplay from Final Fantasy VII as Aeris and Yuffie and she would be Tifa. I didn't really jump at the idea because I'm not really an RPG game fan and I never played VII. Over the summer of 2011 the idea came up again and I heard Kyle Mistry and also The Letter Jay would be in the group as Zack and Cloud so I started thinking about it more seriously. I found Yuffie's Crisis Core design that was a lot more simplistic than her standard FFVII outfit so I decided that I would make that version as it would be a quick costume to make and be part of the group for Youmacon 2011.
I modified McCall's pattern M5955 for the shirt and I used Simplicity pattern 2280 to make the shorts. The patterning for the shirt worked out pretty well, but I'm not very happy with the hooded collar. Construction of this costume was pretty simple although I kept running into issues with the fit of elements of the shirt and I had to re-sew some parts of the shirt several times. - Personal Thoughts:
- Overall, the costume worked out pretty well although it's not really very flattering costume on me. XD I struggled with my wig and the headband slipping back, but I had a lot of fun in the FFVII group. I feel like such a poser in this costume given that I don't really play FF games, though. I really appreciate my friends inviting me into the group! Everyone else in the group looked amazing! The attention to detail that they had with their costumes was fantastic. I do think Yuffie is an adorable character and I have to say that this costume was super comfy for running around the Youmacon hotel!
