About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I used broadcloth for the peasant shirt, and bottom layers of the skirt. The skirt is a circle skirt, with three layers - the bottom white layer, which has eyelet trim sewn on the bottom; the green layer; and the top red plaid layer, which was a lucky fabric find from JoAnn, as part of their discontinued Project Runway line. No zipper needed, since it has an elastic waist.
Waist cincher was frankenstein'd from the same pattern that I made my Stocking cincher from, which originally was an underbust vest pattern. XD I used stretch suede (which really isn't very stretchy) and lined it with the same red plaid fabric from the skirt so it would be pretty on the inside. :3 It's also lightly boned, with 4 pieces of boning, and interfaced.
Hat was made from semi-following a wide-brimmed grandma hat pattern. Craft-weight interfacing/"buckram" hot glued together with maroon ultra-suede sewn over that. Oh, and white roses are attached to the back of the hat! - Personal Thoughts:
- This costume looked simple enough to put together for FAN:dom con, and I finished it in about 3 weekends of sporadic work. :3 It also looked nice and Autumn-y, even though we don't get crazy fall leaves and colors where I live ... oh well. XD
