About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
A lot of things have changed from the original costume. While the original costume was almost all satin, the new one, the dress is made of different materials. The black is all a polyester material. The red is the original casa satin from the first dress. The yellow is a heavy duty satin reversed onto the dull side, since the other side is really shiny.
I once again, used a fiver tier hoopskirt, but this time, I also made sure to add in a bridal petticoat. The top and the skirt are two separate pieces. I noticed in some photos that the top shifted in some posing so you could see my waist area. So I'll be fixing that by having the top and bottom attach with snaps.
The bows and drapping pieces on the skirt were pinned on at PMX, I'll be making those also attach with heavy duty snaps so I can easily wash the top and skirt in the washer.
The gun at this time was rushed a few days before the con since my husband hadn't made my gun yet like he wanted to. So I'll be fixing it up so it's even better come next con.
The base material for the gun is simply layers of craft foam glued together. This gave the gun some depth to the designs. The crown piece is actually a ring of camping mat. The detail pieces are made of craft foam.
The necklace is sculpted from paperclay, backed with craft foam.
The gems on the crown piece are from the first one, the gems on the necklace, and on the dress are new.
Also, I actually had a set of earrings and a ring for the costume, and they went missing. I managed to think fast with left over gems. I glued the gems to the faux ears, and glued a gem onto a cheap ring I had laying around. - Personal Thoughts:
- I finally decided to bite the bullet and remake my Rozalin costume. i first made the costume back in '07. So it's been a little over four years. The costume is still a work in progress. I decided to test run it at PMX to see what I'd like to do to fix it up. The "finished" version should be done for ALA 2011. Almost everything for this costume is new. The only thing that's from the original costume, are the ruffles on the skirt, and the red fabric used on the drapping parts and bows.

- Styling Notes
- The wig is a Jeannie from Arda wigs. I took the clip on ponytail and turned it into all the wefting for Rozalin's ponytail. Because of the crown piece, I actually have a circle of camping mat(foam) that most of the wefts are attached to. It helps the crown stay snuggly in place.
