Construction Details:

Since Kongiku's kimono is not shaped like a traditional one, I used a dress pattern and altered it to get the right shaping (much like my Kagero costume). The kimono ties shut in the front - the closure is hidden by my obi. The obi is a "fauxbi" - the bow is separate and it slides into the back after it has been tied. The appliques on the kimono are poly shantung that I heat-n-bonded on and them painted over to get the gold edging. The red underskirt is a heavyweight red stretch satin, and the tail and ears were sewn out of a really lovely, realistic faux fox fur. I was lucky enough to find a cheap(ish) pair of okobo geta on eBay, so I have accurate shoes! The lantern was made out of a little cast iron one I found at World Market. I added the handle and the little "roof" part on top, then wrapped it in stretchy white fabric and added the tassels.

Personal Thoughts:

This thing needs a severe reworking before I wear it again. So many problems. Also needs a proper photoshoot... On the plus side, cosplaying with my friend Binkx is always fun!!
