About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I bought the gi online, and dyed the shoes purple, after buying them on Amazon. The tabard piece is made out of leftover sateen, dyed with Rit Crimson dye, then 2 packets of True Red from Jaquard to even it out. The green and purple trim are made from bias tape, hand dyed. I just kind of threw it together a week before the convention as a "just in case" thing to wear with my friend who was cosplaying Yoko Kurama. Belt was borrowed from Jace, since I lost mine.
I fixed this up a little for 2012, namely with a different belt that is the obi to a kimono thing I bought a few years ago, since the color matches the trim better. I also adjusted the pants, since I had just rolled them up last time, and wanted them to be a bit more accurate. Shoes are new as well, and aren't accurate but they're comfortable.
Finally polished the costume for 2013! I added snaps to the shoes so they would stop falling off, and elastic to the bottom of the pants, so they'd look and fit like they pants should. Also made a new tabard and dyed new bias tape, then top stitched it in place. Waistband is a karate belt I bought for the first version, and since it matches the trim better than my other belt, I decided to wear it this time around. - Personal Thoughts:
- Cheapest costume ever, and a great outfit to wear to wind down a convention! I kind of feel like a little kid in this, though. I think it might have something to do with rolling up the pants and sleeves as much as I did.

- Styling Notes
- Changed wigs for 2013, just trimmed the lace to right along the hairline and let it hang loose, trimming off about a foot from the length. My original wig was a Luthien in princess pink, which was nice, but not quite the color/style I really wanted.
