About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Thrifted the boots, shirt, and pants. Stitched the pants and did an iron-on transfer for the shirt. Made the jacket out of black suiting and a touch of houndstooth, dyed with pearl grey Rit. The I and the bullet pendant are both made of Sculpey. For some reason I didn't get that the I pin is supposed to be gold, so I only painted the bullet gold, which was just some gold puffy paint I had squirted out of the bottle and put on with a brush. The school symbol is also iron-on transfer, albeit not very clean. The shades are my Shizuo glasses.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I feel really awkward in this. I don't feel like I look manly, I feel like I look like me trying to look manly--which is exactly what it is. BUT I TRIED REALLY HARD, A FOR EFFORT?I almost want to rate the difficulty as hard because the stitching is so tedious and a lot of what this costume involved was totally new to me/my sewing machine broke the week before the con and I had to get a new one. It was adventures in brainstorming. I really want to make a new jacket from scratch because it wasn't very carefully made and there are a lot of mistakes I made as far as the actual design goes (and one in the pattern of the stitching). The stitching wasn't very careful either, and as I plan to do Yosuke, I'd like a jacket that is comfortable to wear.

- Styling Notes
- I am not a wigs person, but I took a bangs extension, which I cut into a widow's peak shape, and clipped it on backwards and combed the whole thing back and pinned it. It took a long time of spraying it with Aquanet and other things over many days to make it stick, and it's still not quite as I'd like.
