About this Costume

The wig I dyed and styled myself - I dyed it with opaque ink, which I DO NOT recommend. I'm replacing this wig soon - it was a good first effort, but I'm just not that good at wigs. The pauldron! I have two versions - the first made entirely out of sculpey on a mold (which I don't recommend - I did it to get a cool marble effect, but it wasn't worth the pain...) and the second I did out of paperclay. I like the second one a lot more! The lights are done with EL wire - the battery packs sit under my cape. The rest... the boots are made from modified rubber riding boots. The grey vinyl is glued to the tongue, and superglued to the boot (the only glue that worked!). I modeled the skirt on a jean skirt I have. The top I made using the same base as the Ty Lee shirt, but I did the bottom slightly wrong, and the zipper is most definitely crooked. Whoops. The jacket I based on a bought pattern. I special-ordered the fasteners from a cosplay website. I made all the belts myself. The gloves are modified from children's batmans gloves (because I have tiny hands!). The necklace (it's there) is made from sculpey and painted. THE SWORDS. They're massive. They're made from foamcore, gorilla glue, duct tape, clay, paint, and prayer. I love those things, but they are DARN heavy. Please feel free to message me if you'd like more info on them!
Wig Details
- How was the wig colored?
- Opaque Artist's Ink
- Styling Notes
- I cut it too short and the opaque ink method took two bottles - I don't recommend it. It was a good first try, but like I said, I'll be replacing it with a bought wig for next time.
