About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
Shirt was patterned from JP Ryan Men's shirt and made in bleached cotton. Pants and Vest were patterned from Simplicity's Pirates of the Caibean pattern and made from black linen and gold brocade that was lined in cream linen, respectively. The coat was patterned from JP Ryan's 1730's Men's Frock Coat pattern and was made of various materials. My sewing machine decided it was just not going to make button holes, so all of the utton holes are done by hand, as was the trim on the coat. Rapier and gauche were already owned.
- Personal Thoughts:
- Several friends really recommended Chevalier le d'Eon to me so I finally got around to watching it. It wasn't my FAVORITE series, but the skit idea just took hold and wouldn't let go, so this ended up being my crunch costume for Fanime. Thankfully, after making Revolutionary America, this was far easier and while some pieces are historically made, I swore to myself that I would never make another pair of drop front breeches ever again in my life.
Thanks to the wonderful friends I got to play with, this costume was a lot of fun to wear, but I'm not sure I'd ever wear it ouside of the group.
