Construction Details:

So all the sewing was pretty straightforward stuff, but everything that wasn't fabric was kind of a nightmare. Marina was unbelievably kind to come over Wednesday and basically sculpt everything for me, except for the main base of the pauldron, which I'd done the night before. She also painted everything for me. ETERNALLY IN YOUR DEBT, LOVE. Every single belt on this costume I made myself, and unfortunately the large one on the outside is made of vinyl with a fluffy white backing, so I had to do some serious damage control to keep that from showing.

Personal Thoughts:

This was my first time cosplaying a Squeenix character, and I'm glad I did it. However, I think that I won't be doing another FF character for a loooong time, because this was a much more tedious process than I'd anticipated, and I don't love the characters enough to be willing to do it again. xD; I was also griping on Friday that I though Nomura should be forced to wear every costume he's designed. Because I think he intended for Lightning's outfit to be practical, but it's completely not. At all. Also, the gunblade in these pictures is not mine; it belongs to chibi-nekos on deviantArt.
