Construction Details:

Oh god this costume. The gems are all cast from resin and were a pain in the ass! Mainly the big shoulder ones. Took me forever to get them right and spent far too much money due to mess-ups. x_x The costume itself was made so tightly to my body that I can't even lift my arms up over my head. XD; And it took me forever to pattern the thing together so it'd piece together the way it is in the design. There was A LOT of hand-stitching involved in this in order to get it to work right. The boot covers (of doom!) are wired at the top so they stick out at that crazy angle (even though you can't see 'cause my coat covers everything! Argh!). The knee pads are stuffed with poly fill. I also made the gloves, shirt, cravat, pants, etc (everything I'm wearing pretty much).

Then there are the swords... Which was by far the most time consuming and most expensive part of this. It took a lot of research and a lot of help from kaitlynclinkscales on DeviantArt (seriously she was soooo incredibly helpful and nice!) I had never worked with LEDs before so yeah...was an experience. They are made of clear plastic with the LEDs hooked up inside with little handy switches that are in an opening at the side and under the cross hilt so they aren't visible yet easy for me to turn on and off.

GINGA BISHONEN!!!

...seriously I love this design and I love this show and even though I didn't wear this costume for long at Otakon (so freaking hot!) I had a blast in it! Especially whenever anyone asked me to do one of Takuto's silly call-out lines in Japanese. XD

Styling Notes

GamerGirlX helped me style this at the con. Involved a lot of hanging the wig upside down and hair-spraying the hell out of it. Very little cutting was needed. Only had to cut the one bang as it was way too long on me.
