About this Costume
Construction Details:
The tail uses millinery wire and petticoat netting, with a few other things, which basically just fills out the fleece that gives it shape. The ears are are single 12 gage aluminum wire that runs from one hoop to the other, and the hoops' shape were guided by giant earings. Yellow ribbon is wrapped around the golden-orange wire to give a glowing affect. The red dots are actually holes cut into the fleece, with red fabric inside of the ears themselves. The bottom of the ears, and also the inside of the ears, is the same white fleece that's been dyed pink. The shorts have some fluff added with petticoat netting.
Personal Thoughts:
The idea was to go for cute with a bit of underlying creepy. It's interesting, having this concept in your head, and then it doesn't really come out how you want it, but everything worked out more or less so I'm happy with it, I guess. I loved the challenge of working without a design; I wanted to come up with as human a version as possible without making a human.
