About this Prop
Construction Details:
- I traced around a real guitar and then modified the shape to look like Haruko's Rickenbacker.
- I used foamcore board for the front and back of the guitar body, the top of the neck, and the head.
- Bendy posterboard was glued along the sides of the body and under part of the neck.
- The inside was stuffed with newspaper for support.
- Covered the whole thing in craft foam.
- Made all the metal bits out of craft foam too.
- Added screws, strings, tuners, and handles for the strap.

- Cut hole in backside.
- Made fan blade using a CD holder, the blade from a mini fan, and various metal pieces to make it rotate. It spins, but not very well.
- Made border of the cut hole with posterboard + craft foam.
- Ripcord handle is a handle from a screwdriver I had laying around. It doesn't actually have a cord connected to it.
Personal Thoughts:
I used a photo of a real Azure Glo Rickenbacker 4001 to make this prop, so it's pretty damn accurate to the real thing. I could have used other materials to make the guitar more realistic, but I actually wanted it to look more like a cartoon than the real thing. I saw a Canti cosplayer who made it out of foam and I liked how theirs looked.

If I could, I'd like to make it again out of better materials. I'd also like to have the ripcord and fan blade be functional.
