)The white top was an athletic top from Target. I took in the sides to be tight-fitting, shortened the hem, and adjusted the collar on both back & front. The Aperture logo was screen-printed on.
Blue top underneath is under armour found on ebay. It's a cooler toned light blue than the game, but fits/works great and is hella comfy. Gray bottoms are biker shorts.
The jumpsuit is that same jumpsuit used in my Portal ver. of Chell, but with the sleeves & pant legs rolled down.
The Long Fall Boots. Oh lordy, those boots. They started off as a cheap pair of black gogo boots. The heel was crowbarred off, and a small piece of black vinyl was put of the back where the GIANT METAL STAPLE was originally hold the heel on. Using a blueprint, I carefully cut the open part off the front. After many attempts at patterning, a layer of white stretch vinyl was attached to the boots, minus where the black areas were. Then, a layer of craft foam for the raised layer, which was also covered in vinyl (I had to incorporate the zipper into the design as well, since I can't get the boots on without unzipping them). The springs are black wreath hangers, bent into the correct shape. Since I'm a light person, they hold up very well. Though it took a while to get used to them, and I couldn't walk long distances in one go.
Portal gun is all cardboard, a 1L bottle, and craft/camping mat foam. It's made entirely of recycled/found materials. Once I have the money/time/skill, I really want to make a fancy, light-up one. - Personal Thoughts:
- Back in October, I cosplayed as Chell from the 1st Portal. I was originally just planning on fixing up that version, but when I saw her new threads, I fell in love.
So much blood, sweat, and tears went into this costume, and I'm so proud of it. I learned so many new techniques from this costume, including a new love of screen-printing.
