About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
This was the first costume where I made everything by hand!! It was a little tricky, but with a lot of help (thanks, Kit Foxfire and Hanyaan!!) I got it done! The shirt is a linen-look fabric originally in tangerine orange. I made a pattern for a v-neck top and sewed it together, then took Kit Foxfire's advice and splotched shades of orange on it to give it the moss-like look I wanted. Then I drybrushed it with some gold glitter puffy paint and used the same paint to make the swirl designs on the bottom. The belt is made from a green cotton with a leaf print on it and attaches with velcro. The pants are a copper linen which I painted a leaf design onto using gold, copper and bronze fabric paint. The shoes are made from felt using an Elf Shoe pattern I found on about.com. To make the bottoms safer, I painted on some rubber (the kind used to make non-slip rugs). I'm looking to redo this, though, because it didn't come out the way I'd hoped. The wings are made using a tutorial from Faerie Muse! I used iridescent cellophane to get the look achieved here. I also did a flower arrangement with leaves, flowers and butterflies to cover the back brace!
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- The wig is a Jeannie in Spanish Brown from Arda. I formed the base wig into a bun, took the ponytail off the clip, shaped it around the bun and pinned it, and then braided the long ponytail. In the future I'd like to find a new way to do this that'll let me achieve Fawn's high ponytail look.
