About this Costume
Construction Details:
The top was probably the most complex part of the outfit; it gave me the most trouble but it really was not that difficult overall. Navy blue sateen and medieval blue poplin are the main components of this top, plus a bit of navy bias tape, sky blue cotton, and the remains of the fabric from the pants. I started off with a jacket pattern, made it longer, took in a few of the seams (especially around the chest area since Norway is obviously not a girl) and modified the collar to be more sailor like. A totally of 8 snaps holds the top closed and holds the chest flat thingie in place. There is actually a lot of handstitching on the top, and a lot of bias tape.

The pants are made of some twill like fabric (I can't remember exactly what kind). They were easy to make since I've made pants so many times before.

For the hat, I took fabric from the top and used a Renaissance hat pattern which I modified just slightly. I added a thick black and white striped ribbon for the band. It's a little big, but I love how the interfacing makes it stiff.

The cross barrette started off as a black wooden cross. It was painted with 6 coats of metallic gold acrylic paint and then sealed with 2 coats of vanish. It is then hot glued to a barrette.
Personal Thoughts:
I wanted to cosplay one of the Nordic 5 since I saw images of them. At first I wanted to cosplay Denmark, but his personality doesn't suit me. Norway it was!
