Construction Details:

Not only are the Christmas dresses ADORABLE, but the best scene in the entire manga happens during the party, so it was a no-brainer. I even forced my friends and husband into doing these costumes with me so that we could act out the scenes (didn't hurt that I made them the costumes as Christmas presents). We froze our butts off at a Christmas photo shoot out of pure love for the series. The dresses are made from stretch velvet with "ultra cuddle" fleece for the fur trim (it needed to stretch). Natsumes's outfit is all basic cotton, with craft foam wings. Yes, I know his outfit looks more Halloween than Christmas-- it's even a joke in the manga. The school forces the kids to wear the weirdest things! So, this was also my first time making attached boot covers. I used a soft fabric flat for my base and sewed my cover directly on along the bottom edge, using a curved upholstery needle. I stretched the excess fabric across the sole while I sewed, then clipped it off and painted a line of black fabric paint along the edge to seal and hide the stitches. Worked like a charm!
