Construction Details:

Made in June 2009 for A-kon in Dallas, Tx. This was my first ever cosplay, and it was last minute and completely rushed. I wasn't really good at sewing yet so I ended up hot gluing the entire thing together in two nights-- polearm included. The red, yellow and green fabric for the skirt was bought on sale for my birthday that year. It was a type of micro suede that ended up being only around $3-4 a yard. It was a pretty sweet deal. The blue square on the front was some sort of bridal sheer. It's been so long that I really don't remember what it was.It did fray terribly though. The designs on the front were hand painted with gold fabric paint. The bra was not sewn by me. I bought a red sports bra, cut it down the front and sewed snaps in. Then I hot glued brown bias tape all around the edges, making the trim and the collar bit, and then glued on little buttons for show. From far away the effect looked pretty good, but you could see the glue stains up close when you were near me. Lol. The headband and arm band were old stockings that I cut up and wore as is. The boots were bought second-hand, painted red and worn with some old softball socks that I had. I hated the polearm with a passion. The pole was just two thick dowels glued and taped together. The blade was styrofoam, but it cracked, so we covered it in duct tape, which made it look even worse. Lol. It was fairly lightweight though, even if I didn't fit in Elevators. This costume was fun to wear. It was well received, despite being extremely last minute. I'd love to completely remake it, now that I know how to sew decently.
