This was not as easy as I thought it would be. It looks like a simple design, but what I didn't realize was that there is a special art to draping fabric without making it look frumpy. I faced many challenges and ended up having to change fabric types once and make most of the items twice. The buttons, broach, and earrings (not pictured) are cast from resin with gold flakes in them to resemble amber. Since there aren't molds pre-made for such bizarre pieces, I ended up making those myself, as well. The earrings were too heavy for me to wear, but I think the pieces looked pretty good. The capelet is a lovely satin I found on clearance interfaced to hell and back with pleats sewn in to give it a bunched look. I put clear straps in so it could rest easily over my shoulders. The dress and gloves are made from stretch satin for its beautiful heavy drape. The gloves are secure on my arms with the help of tight elastic bands cased in at the top! I am also wearing a leotard underneath which was a #*%@& to make. It's made from lycra spandex and looks like a schoolgirl swimsuit with a keyhole opening at the chest. HA! OH, and we got to paint ourselves. I bought Kryolan's alcohol activated paint and that stuff is IMMACULATE. That stuff does not budge! In fact, I still had faint vile tribe markings after two days of scrubbing. So Phacia may not be perfect, but as with all costumes I make, I pride myself on the fact that I learned a few new things. I am very satisfied.
- Personal Thoughts:
- I had a conversation with Envel one day about things that would be fun to cosplay. When Lunar came up, I expressed interest in a Vile Tribe group. The conversation went something like this: Me: I'd love to be Phacia! Envel: I want to be Royce! Both: Fire Lily should be a hot Xenobia! The group was born after Fire Lily agreed to it. (And I want to add how much I LOVE these girls for being naked next to me. You two are the best!!) Sadly, the Vile Tribe didn't see a lot of time at Tekkoshocon this year, but I genuinely hope we'll have another opportunity to wear these at another con because this was such a fun group.
Wig Details
- Styling Notes
- This wig is really heavy! There isn't an option to list two separate wigs, but there are two here: the first is an Alisa style from Aphigory as I listed and the other is a hand-me-down that I believe was an enchantment from the same place. The WHOLE ponytail is that enchantment wig tacked carefully onto a half sphere of styrofoam and secured to the top of the Alisa, which was twisted into a tight bun just in case I want to use the wig for something else later. The headband is painted satin and I'm SO glad it was in the design because it made securing the ponytail so much easier!
