About this Costume

Sheik has always been a favorite character of mine and I really loved the Brawl version of the costume. I finally just completed the costume this summer and was waiting for an opportunity to do a photoshoot.
The costume started off with a black zentai (nickname pervert suit) for the base. I made a duct tape dummy (with help of course) and used the dummy to help me with patterning and making the costume form fitting. I had to make my own pattern for every piece of the costume, which was quite a challenge.
The turban, mask, fingers, wraps, and white collar/tabard are all a cotton twill fabric. The Sheikah symbol on the front of the tabard is appliqued onto the white fabric. The cuts and frays in the tabard were held together with lots of fray check and glue to keep the shape and from fraying further.
The gauntlets, arm bands, shoulder pieces, and leg pieces are all a soft microsuede fabric. The corset, shin pieces, and boots are an upholstery fabric. I also used a blue mesh fabric for the "chain mail" shirt. It was the wrong color, so I ended up having to paint it with Jacquard textile paint.
All of the designs on the shoulders, leg pieces, and shin pieces were embroidered by hand. All of the armor pieces on the back, the clips on the front, the hair pieces, and the sword started out with a funfoam base and then covered in wonderflex. Each piece was covered in multiple layers of gesso, sanded, painted, and then glued and sewn into place on the costume, excluding the sword which attaches with four separate snaps to the corset.
The shoes started out as a plain black mary jane shoes. I used black spandex to create a boot and sewed the mesh and upholstery fabric onto the shoe to make it look more like Sheik's tabe boot.
The wig started as a New Look Alicia XXL wig, I cut the bangs, and braided the back. I had to add extra wefts to thicken the braid as well.
The contacts were bought from the Grimm Brothers Holloween Effects website.
