About this Costume
- Construction Details:
-
I used all clearance fabrics for this, high school budget! Blue under kimono, light blue kimono (with an extra white set of sleeves so I didn't have to make another layer!) over coat, obi, head piece all hand made. The head piece is styrofoam craft balls that I painted and pined/glued together. Then I wired/glued them to a few head bands. Add another head band of braided fabric in front and a bow tacked on the back, then wire all 4 head bands together to create one mega head bobble crown of doom!
Store bought pants, and the slippers my sister gave me from Knotting Hill England. - Personal Thoughts:
- This was my first cosplay EVER! My older sister was a lot of help with this one. Tenko was made for Boston in early April for AB 2003 and it was fine. For Otakon 2004 there was a Yami photo shoot and I was asked to bring her along. It was so hot! I would like to remake her again with nice fabric, and not have the head dress fall apart on the way home this time! The crown was made 3 times! The first one was drying on my bed when a friend came on accidentally jumped on it. The second broke just after the AB masquerade when some guy bumped into me. Then when we went to Otakon I remade it again, but the 9 hour car ride squished in the trunk with the rest of our stuff was not so good for it!
