About this Costume
Construction Details:
I didn't want to use vinyl like a lot of other Ryth cosplayers, and I was lucky enough to find a perfect blue knit in the clearance bin at Joann's. I also wanted to flare the skirt because it's a little more accurate, and I think the knit hangs nicely on the flared part. The dark blue accents are bias tape, and the "bra" is made of painted craft foam, red stretch vinyl, and black 1/4" elastic. The spraycan is two spools of ribbon, cardstock, wrapping paper, white craft foam, the top off of an empty can of hairspray, and hot glue (it was a pretty cheap and easy prop to make...). I decided on the red health can because with how clumsy I am, I'd need all the extra health I can get! The "skates" are an old pair of mid-calf boots that have been painted and given details with craft foam and craft fur. I didn't want real skates (again, I'm a bit clumsy...), so I thought that the modified boots were a good compromise. The armwarmers are tulle.
